BASIC works with the following organizations to further its goal of increasing the adoption and usage of solar energy in NYC:

Million Solar Roofs Initiative (MSRI). Federally-sponsored program to install one million solar roofs in the United States by 2010. BASIC is a Partner. www.millionsolarroofs.com

Neighborhood Energy Network (NEN). Grassroots Manhattan-based community group advocating for solar and energy efficiency. BASIC hosts informational tables on purchasing and financing solar systems at NEN's neighborhood energy forums. www.neighborhoodenergynetwork.org

Green Map System (GMS). Not-for-profit creators of free print and online "Green Maps." These maps highlight local sites of natural and cultural significance. BASIC will supply the NYC Green Apple Map with information on solar installations for the forthcoming Energy map. www.greenmap.org/nyc

Renewable Brooklyn (RB). A collective of artists, educators, environmentalists and professionals dedicated to creating a more ecologically healthy way of living. BASIC presented at the first RB festival in October 2003 and continues to work closely with RB coordinators. www.renewablebrooklyn.com

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). Responsible for administering the solar rebate program for most of New York State. Also, creators of elegant solar marketing materials. www.nyserda.org, www.powernaturally.org

New York Solar Energy Industries Association (NYSEIA). New York State solar industry group. www.nyseia.org

GreenHomeNYC. A new non-profit working with building owners, builders, and suppliers of building products to promote the use of environmentally friendly, energy-conserving building practices and products in small buildings. www.greenhomeNYC.org

GE Announces Environmental Initiatives
General Electric announces a major investment in so-called green technology, in a move that may pressure the energy industry to develop policies to limit the levels of carbon dioxide and other environmentally harmful agents produced by their businesses.
