Outside New York City?

Projects
Newsletters |  Outreach Events |  Publicity |  Multilingual

Our Projects include:

  • *BASICsolarNEWS: This brief solar newsletter is distributed through trusted local sources (such as shops, environmental organizations, local governments) and by direct mail to building owners. It includes profiles of local residents and buildings that have “gone solar” as well as a simple self-qualifying checklist to help potential customers decide for themselves if solar or green power is right for them.
  • This Website: A complete educational resource for information about solar in NYC.
  • Solar Awareness Survey: A grassroots approach to achieve a more scientific understanding of public perception of solar energy by surveying a random sampling of people in public places. It will also serve as educational outreach because survey participants will be given information to take home. This project may be done in conjunction with a high school or university group interested in getting involved with BASIC.
  • *Solar Tricycle and other demonstration projects: “Solar power in action” to be displayed at local fairs, community events and festivals. The demonstration projects draw the attention of passersby who are given information as they show interest. Articles and Press Releases: BASIC will write and distribute press releases to local newspapers and magazines about local solar installations, encouraging more media coverage of solar in general and of BASIC in particular. Seminars for building owners and developers to learn more about installing solar in their communities.
  • *Multi-lingual Newsletter
  • *Multi-lingual Website
  • *Solar Powered Advertising kiosks: Another way to introduce new potential customers to solar energy. This is a project for the future.
